Vidden is known as the longest and most beautiful hike in Bergen. Dozens of viewpoints give ever-changing perspectives of the city, the fjords, the islands and the ocean beyond — and on snowy days the walk is simply idyllic. We breathe the purest air in town, drink clear mountain water and, in season, taste the wild berries growing along the trail.
Good to know before you go
- Waterproof shoes and wind- and rainproof clothing recommended — as we say in Norway: there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.
- Bring enough water and food, and ideally a small daypack.
- Few toilet opportunities en route: from Fløyen, Brushytten is the last stop; from Ulriken, the upper cable car station.
